Plano ISD Names Finalist for Superintendent of Schools
Richard Matkin, Interim Superintendent, has been named the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools by the Plano ISD Board of Trustees today.
Plano ISD Council of PTAs Honors Texas PTA Reflections Program Winners
Plano ISD Council of PTAs will present awards to Texas PTA Reflections contest winners on Thursday, April 12, 2012, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Sockwell Center in Plano, Texas.
A kindergartener from Hedgcoxe Elementary School, Mia Robertson’s “The Big Statue of Liberty” was awarded Overall Award of Excellence in Visual Arts Primary category by Texas PTA and is advancing to National PTA’s Reflections contest. Her work is one of 24 entries from Texas chosen to compete at the national level.
Thirty-Seven Plano ISD students were chosen for state level awards:
- Senior Level: WT Greer, Nikki Shah, Jae Yoon, Jessie Zhou
- Middle Junior Level: Melanie Higgins, Lena Khanolkar, Dara Li, Jolene Limqueco, Alyssa Parfrey, Nathan Wille, Sonya Xu, Patrick Yu
- Intermediate Level: Carter Doby, Jonathan Ji, I-Jung Lin, Gabrielle Liu, Maxwell Mendillo, Ashlyn Nargunam, Govardhan Poondi, Joshua Wang, Brandon Wang, Jacqueline Wei (2 entries), Annabelle Yang, David Yue
- Primary Level: Claire Bang, Belinda Dong, Kelly Hu, Liang Jimenez, Harish Kolli, Cindy Oh, Mia Robertson, Grace Sammon, Jeremian Vazhavilla, Licheng Yi, Grace Zheng, LuAnne Zhu
National PTA Calls for Diversity & Inclusion Award Entries
The Jan Harp Domene Diversity and Inclusion Award will identify PTAs that are doing remarkable work in the areas of diversity and inclusion. PTAs everywhere must understand and embrace the uniqueness of all individuals, appreciating that each contributes a diversity of views, experiences, cultural heritage/traditions, skills/abilities, values and preferences.
